Eyster in his studio

Who is Richard Eyster?

Richard Eyster grew up in a family of artists. His mother and father were both professional painters.

For many years, he had no interest in following in his family’s footsteps.  Yet late in middle age, working his way through a difficult time in Brooklyn, New York, he began to paint.

The artworks that comprise Time Let Me Play represent a deep appreciation of the natural world.  Whether celebrating the lush ripeness of summer berries or conveying the moody decay of a forest floor in autumn, the work is built upon a deep and evocative power.

Eyster’s work is owned by numerous private collectors.  His paintings have been exhibited in the National Arts Club, the American Watercolor Society Show at Salmagundi, and the National Academy of Design (all in New York City).  He has had solo gallery shows in New York, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts.

He lives with his wife Rosie, north of Boston — and just four doors from the Atlantic Ocean.  He welcomes visits to his studio.
